Hello,
I already have a BS from Excelsior college In Liberal Studies.
With two areas of focus admin & management studies as wells as Insurance.
I would like to get a second degree in Database applications.
What will be the cheapest fastest easiest way to get there.
Basically I am only interested in learning Databases and be able to transfer the new knowledge into a degree to maximise my Returm on Investment.
Thank you much

What about doing a graduate certificate instead of a second BS? I would think that would be faster, cheaper and more targeted. I believe that you will have to get a minimum of 30 "fresh" credits to earn a second degree, so instead of trying to worry about UL, LL and area requirements you can just do a grad certificate that will focus totally on your preferred area of study. I would think that would be preferred by employers rather than more arts and sciences credits!

I agree. In addition to earning the certificate, you'll have grad credits for "later" should you decide to earn your master's.

I am with the "girls" on the subject of doing the grad credits. At this point I am all about the grad credits.

The perfect 33 credit Masters program for you is here. It can be completed 100% online.
UWF - Master of Science in Administration - Database Administration
There is also an out of state tuition waiver that makes the program very affordable.
Excelsior - BS Business 2008
Son #1 TESC BSBA Computer Information Systems completed June 2010
Son #2 TESC BA Computer Science completed November 2010 Currently in Florida State (FSU) Masters CS program and loving it

That's a great find, However I would prefer a school without any entrance exam Gre Gmat etc...
I have no desire to prepare for the exams.
Are there any other options.
Keep them coming
Thank you very much

I highly recommend California Coast University. It is 100% on line, there are no entrance exams, and it can be completed at your own pace...in as little as 9 months if you can put in the time to do the work. Search the forum as I know both myself and Shotojuku graduated there and have written lengthy reviews of our experiences. BTW, I second the opinion of getting a Masters versus a second bachelors degree. Good Luck in whatever school you choose.

Hello
Thank you for your input.
But I do not see any program in "databases" at the Masters or Bachelor level at CCU.
Also I would prefer RA vs NA but I am not totally opposed to it.
Thanks

Hello
I found the Master of Science in Database Technologiesat at REGIS that I really like but is very expensive:
Online-based courses: $660 /credit hour : 36 hours required
Master of Science in Database Technologies Degree ââ¬â Regis University CPS
Are there any other similar programs that are reasonably priced.
Up to 1000 per 3 credit hours.
Thank you much

There's Dakota State University's Master of Science in Information Systems. They have a specialization in data management which sounds like what you're looking for. No GRE required if you have a bachelors degree with at least a 3.25 GPA. Since your bachelors degree is not in information systems, you may have to take some undergrad prerequisite courses to be admitted; but this may be the case in any graduate program you pursue outside of your undergraduate degree subject. It costs $337.05 per credit hour and is a 30 hour program ($10,111.50). DSU is a RA school with a large B&M presence as well. If you dare, they also offer a doctorate in the same subject. Good luck!
