What type of credits are TECEP counted as?
#1
Hello everyone!

Currently I am a student at TESU, with my first term ending this Sunday. At the end of this term, I will have 100 credits, 9 coming from community college and 79 coming from ACE sources such as Sophia and Coursera. I am also currently finishing up a Study.com course which will give me three more credits, as an ACE source. This upcoming term I will be taking 2 regular TESU courses and 2 TECEP exams. Will the TECEP exams count as the ACE credit sources which are capped at 90? I was hoping that I could take the final two courses needed to graduate through Study.com, but I am concerned that these would not be counted as I am near the maximum ACE credits allowed, if the TECEP exams count as ACE sources.

Thank you for your help!

No! TECEPs count as regionally accredited credit. Their only limitation is that they do not count as TESU residency credit (except for students on military tuition plans).

Thank you so much for your response! That helps me a ton with planning the rest of my degree, which I now know I can likely finish even sooner than I anticipated!

Yes, TECEPs are exams that provide RA credit and not ACE recommended for college credit. Moreover, TECEPs are pass/fail as well, you wouldn't be getting a letter grade.
