Help with degree major
#1
Hi everyone! I really can't decide what degree path I should be taking. I'm starting a bachelor's from scratch and I was wondering should I go for one that is the easiest like Liberal Arts and just try to get it done or do I go for something that is more marketable like a STEM degree? I would really like to teach English as a second language to kids and young adults overseas and I don't really know where to start. Any help or ideas would be super appreciated! Thanks everyone!

Just start exploring courses. Take a look at one of the generic gen Ed spreadsheets and you'll notice that most degree plans are have very similar gen Ed requirements. Just start with English composition 1 & 2, mathematics (whatever level you're ready to start at), 1-2 natural science courses, and some history/social science courses.

Also! If you plan to go to TESU, do the FREE CPCU Ethics course from the institutes NOW! You can finish it relatively fast and it satisfies the TESU ethics requirement. It's ace recommendation ends the 31st of this month so get it done quickly! Additionally, the Teex cyber security courses also expire the 31st of this month so if you want to take advantage of those, start now.

if you're just starting out and have no idea what you want to do, i would do your core classes and then take another look at it. for most degrees you have to take english, science, math, politics, ethics, communications, etc etc so by the time you take 1 of all of those something should click and give you a direction to go with

plenty of people change majors too, just try not to sweat it right now. Do 30 or 50 hours of courses and then take another look at it

If you're not interested in working in STEM, I'm not sure why you'd get a STEM degree. Certainly, don't let this choice get in the way of getting started on your GenEds.
NanoDegree: Intro to Self-Driving Cars (2019)
Coursera: Stanford Machine Learning (2019)
TESU: BA in Comp Sci (2016)
TECEP:Env Ethics (2015); TESU PLA:Software Eng, Computer Arch, C++, Advanced C++, Data Struct (2015); TESU Courses:Capstone, Database Mngmnt Sys, Op Sys, Artificial Intel, Discrete Math, Intro to Portfolio Dev, Intro PLA (2014-16); DSST:Anthro, Pers Fin, Astronomy (2014); CLEP:Intro to Soc (2014); Saylor.org:Intro to Computers (2014); CC: 69 units (1980-88)

If your goal is to teach English as a FL, then you should just get a quick and easy BALS degree from TESU or COSC. There's no point in getting a STEM degree when you don't want a STEM career.

Thanks everyone for your help! I think I will shy away from the stem degree for now and work on my gen ed. Probably for a BALS degree. Thanks for the advice!
