Where will the extra credits go?
#1
Hi. I am almost done with my requirements and hopefully will graduate in Dec. I have a bunch of extra credits from different sources, that don't apply to my degree and I was wondering if I should have them all together in a credit bank account? After all, those credits meant effort, time and $ and I want to be able to figure out something, maybe some day I will need them!

Any one who has already graduated from EC knows what happens with the rest of the courses/credits? Will they give me separate transcripts with those? Or should I open an account to put them in the "bank"? It's kind of expensive though!

hahaha. I had some of those credits too. I would have loved to put them into the bank and earned interest on them.

Seriously though, anything that the school accepts will be on your transcript. Later on you may be able to use them towards another bachelors degree if that's what you're interested in.

Really? I thought it would be like in a separate paper. It's kind of a lot of courses (like 160 credits in total and aroun 18 courses were not applied to my current degree).

Well, I will wait and see, I think they will send me a package for what I have read, indicating me everything. I am close!

Thanks a lot for your reply!

P.D. I wish I could have earn interest on them as well! Rolleyes

creationstory,

Thanks. I was considering that. With EC, the 30 credits must be UL, right?

Greetings, I know this is an old thread, however, I was wondering the following:

If I have credits that are sent to TESC, they evaluate them, but don't apply toward my degree, do they still show up on my "final transcript" from TESC?

Lets say I do 50 FEMA credits, only 12 apply to the degree, but TESC still evaluates the other 38. Will those be evaluated and show on their transcript? And ALEKS courses, etc, too?

I appreciate the input.

I just talked with my advisor at EC today about banking my extra credits. She advised against it. She said it works great for military personnel but if you want to use them towards a degree anywhere at anytime you will still need the official transcript from the original source of the credit. She said the only thing that will show up on my final transcript is the credits used towards my degree. I can have the extra credits listed, but if they weren't from them they will just have a blurb very similar to what you see on your acedemic summary from them. On my summary it has my extra credits listed below all the requirements I have met and says you also have these credits that don't apply to your degree etc. I was glad I asked, because I wanted them all consolidated so if I needed copies in the future I only had to get one and my employer or graduate school would have everything from one request. Just keep track of what credits are where and get them when you need them. I hope this helps!

Yes- this is true. If you use them -and "use" means include in a transcript that resulted in a degree, not actually "used" toward your degree- they are locked forever. You will never be able to pull them out and get a second degree....but since you are finishing your bachelor's degree- you are done- you could move onward and upward.
The process of taking credits off, I believe, is usually simple- you have to ask, maybe in writing, but they should do this for you if you want.
Rather than a second degree- if you really want something, do a double major- you graduate with one fee, not 2- and your transcript reads 2 degrees anyway.

(spoken from someone who also has 63 "Extra" credits too)
