Hi everyone. Just for a bit of background: I'm a recently-married full-time worker who would like to obtain a BA History from TESC. I have mapped out a degree schedule that works for me, and that fits with TESC's requirements. All but a couple of my tests will come from either CLEP or DSST. I have completed eight tests so far over the last year, with many more to go.
My question is about TESC fees, application and tuition. What is the wisest course of action for me to take? Should I have already applied and should I be paying the annual tuition fee, or can that wait until I have accumulated all the credits I am able to? Is there a limit to the number of credits I can transfer to TESC during my application?

If you're an out of state student, there is a substantial cost difference between Enrolled Options and Per Credit tuition. Whatever you're not able to complete through CLEP and DSST, you should see if there are any TECEP's that would cover it. Try to finalize how you're going to attain all the necessary credits for the degree--from there it's easier to navigate what's the best option enrollment wise.

I have four TECEP tests included in my plan. So I guess my question is this: Is there harm to waiting until I've accumulated more CLEP/DSST credits before starting the process with TESC?

Waiting until near graduation is more suited for the enrolled options plan as there is an annual fee. For the Per Credit play there is no sense in waiting, as there is no fee, just the 24 credit TESC residency requirement, which can be completed via TECEP's, and also don't necessarily have to be in your degree plan--Any TECEP credits apply towards the residency requirement. Since you already have 4 planned, the Per Credit Tuition seems better suited for you since you're half way complete with the 24 credit requirement, I think you should just apply and enroll and start receiving evaluations.

Okay, that makes sense. That per-credit cost wouldn't apply to credits I'd be transferring in via CLEP/DSST, though, correct?

Correct, only credits earned through TESC courses and TECEP's go towards the 24 credit requirement.

Perfect. Thanks, SwaggyP. I was very confused about this policy, but you've shed some light on it. I appreciate it!
