Which is the easiest CLEP: Chemistry. Biology, Natural Sciences or Social Sciences and History? Also, are there any DSST exams worth 6 credits?

Hi!
I just passed the Chemistry and Biology CLEPs, so with the right amount of study and materials, both of those are doable. I spent 2-3 months studying for Chemistry and 1 month studying for Biology. If you just need a general science, Natural Science CLEP would be a good choice. Some schools don't accept this one, so then one of the DSST sciences or Biology CLEP would be the next choice usually. With Biology, you have to check your school's requirement for the lab part. (Sometimes you can not take the Biology CLEP because of the lab requirement.) You probably know this already, but Social Science & History CLEP will not count a science credit. It covers government, geography, economics, psychology, sociology, anthropology, and is 40% history. What school are you planning to graduate from? We can help you find their CLEP policy (usually just search CLEP on their website). You don’t want to waste your time on tests that will not be accepted.

I'm sure either Natural Sciences or Social Sciences would be easiest. For me, the easier of the two was Social Sciences & History.

If you have a decent background of history, all the prep you'll need to do is to look over IC's Sociology cards and take some practice tests. Peterson's CLEP Success book has two practice tests and a review section: http://www.petersons.com/pdf/free/CLEPSuccess.pdf mistae Wrote:Also, are there any DSST exams worth 6 credits?Nope. They're all three credits tests.

Also, are there any DSST exams worth 6 credits?>> Chemistry and Biology will require a lot of study. Period. Natural science, maybe a good choice if you have had some science in school already. It's 50% biology. Social Science and History (not a science classification BTW) is very very general- and for me- that made it hard. I like the subjects better myself because you can target your study plan. Those you mentioned are all 6 credit exams, but some people (me) think it's easier to take 2 each 3 credit test! ![]() |
