Hey, this is my second post on this forum.
I just found out about clepping last month. I have about 15 hours from a local community college(Networking, Intro to Computers, Linux, US Hist post civil war, music appreciation), and I was wondering how long it would take to complete a BS in computer science at excelsior, if I clepped out of everything possible?
I decided to give clepping a try, and so far I was able to clep out of the American Government class, after a few days of studying. I'm a bit politically inclined, but I still studied via instant cert and the course book. I think I can complete 3-4 cleps per month honestly.
Would it be better to complete the Associates degree first and then move to the bachelors degree?
Thanks
P.S I'm trying to finish either an AS Or BS as fast as possible, hopefully by this same time next year. If I have to I'll swap my major over to History. Any imput would be highly appreciated.

What I would recommend is that you sign up on the Excelsior website (free) then go to their publications page and find the degrees you are considering both AS and BS then look at the degree requirements. EC has a credit by examination page that shows you all the CLEP and DSST exams they will accept and how they apply them to degree requirements. Then you just start plugging in the exams and the credits you already have to see what you have left to complete the requirements. I think the only degrees they have that you can completely test out of are their liberal arts degrees, so you will probably have to take some classes with them or another school to get it all done, especially for a BS since it requires more credits than is available. You should be able to get an AS in liberal arts fairly quickly, but I also believe they have a computer related AS. I have read on here that they will also accept some IT certifications for credit as well. I'm just starting to look into these degrees for my son. I think TESC also has a computer science degree. Good luck. Let me know what you find out as it may help us decide for my son.

Thanks,
I found that thread via the search engine earlier. I have been admitted to excelsior, but I am thinking the program will end up costing quite a bit since each course is at least $1025. Looks like I'll be enrolling in the community college also to take these basic courses for a fraction of the cost.
If I come up with a concrete plan I'll post it here.
