edx MicroBachelors Program in Elements of Data Science - how many credits ?
#1
https://www.edx.org/microbachelors/ricex...ta-science

maybe I'm blind, but I cannot see anywhere where it says how many credits you get for this
and I can't tell if they only apply to Rice University

its currently $591.30
and if its at least 4 credits that's $147.83 per credit which isn't horrible

it would be great if they could be applied to other schools, but who can tell

It doesn't say yet. I noticed that they have a few other "micro bachelor's" that look new but also lack details on how much credit they're worth.

well this is one of the courses in the MicroBachelors
Discrete Time Signals and Systems
https://www.edx.org/course/discrete-time...nd-systems

and on it it says
This course is an excerpt from an advanced undergraduate class at Rice University taught to all electrical and computer engineering majors.

a google search for
Rice University Discrete Time Signals and Systems
led me to
https://prod-edxapp.edx-cdn.org/assets/c..._notes.pdf

and a search for
rice university ELEC 301
led me to
https://www.ece.rice.edu/dsp/courses/ele...1_02.shtml
and
http://dsp.rice.edu/elec-301-signals-sys...-learning/

so I'm hoping you get at least 3 upper level credits

I would also be interested in that. I think you only get credit (3 courses) if you end up going to Rice University.

Soon to be followed by a micro certificate and then a micro course.

Don't forget - there are actually "nanodegrees" and "picodegrees" out there, too. They've been Googled, cussed and discussed on another forum. I think marijuana must be legal in the states where those are available. It's getting silly.

It's certainly silly if you consider what "micro" "nano" and "pico" actually mean. I don't even think the names are that catchy.

I don't think they're catchy either. And it's too tempting for posers to omit the prefixes - trying to pass these off on their c.v. as actual degrees. I think micro, nano and pico refer to the brain capacity of those who dreamt them up.

I hope these midget-credentials get smaller and smaller until poof! They disappear completely. Courses are courses. Certs are certs. Degrees are degrees. Call 'em what they are.

3 or 4 micro-credits, maybe. Smile I'm guessing. Not a bad deal if you can pay in micro-$.
