finally deciding to go for it
#41
By the time you're done with the AAS, you can print out the HS diploma and have your hubby sign it off. You can print it off today if you wanted, have an adult in the household other than yourself sign it as that's the basic requirement. Some states have a slight different requirement, but shouldn't cause too much of an issue. I wouldn't be too critical with a homeschool high school diploma. The Pierpont BOG AAS is just the beginning of your journey and the end for the need of a high school diploma...

Not necessarily.  I just applied for a government job, and yep, they wanted my high school diploma.

Through whom can someone get a GED via exams at home ? Most outlets would make you take an exam, then classes, then the final exam in order to "earn" the GED.

You don't need to take classes to take the GED exam. You just need to sign up for it. You are, however, strongly encouraged to take GED classes. Personally, I took it cold. It wasn't that hard.

Some states don't offer online testing, though: https://ged.com/state-information-online-testing/

Study.com offers GED Prep - https://study.com/ged/index.html (this could be done on the mid-price plan for the quizzes, that is currently $60 a month)

Would a photocopy of the diploma work? Or do they want transcripts too? Those are hard for many of us older folks since they're in storage somewhere.

I was able to order mine directly from my high school, via Parchment (and I'm probably older than you are).  I find it interesting that I can order mine from my high school via pdf, but not my first college, who has to snail mail it.

Nothing from my high school is available electronically for me. It's all sitting in a warehouse. It was a nightmare when Covid began because our state shut everything down. I still have 2 college transcripts that are paper only. One is hilarious because they were one of the first SUNY schools to embrace online learning and built their Online Academy.....still a $14 paper transcript which takes over 3 weeks to get. Everyone has a $14 paper transcript even students who just started.....way to join the information age.
