grouping tests strategy

Yep! If you already have MATH121 Algebra, go back and pick up the College Math CLEP for 6 and the Intermediate Algebra through ALEKS for 3 more credits ($20) *this would be assuming you wouldn't have to go re-learn a bunch of stuff, but if you already passed 121, I think you might have found a treasure picking up the lower maths. Double check the current alpha-numeric in the back of the college catalog to be sure you won't duplicate anything.

Oh- the reason I didn't suggest ALEKS Beg and Inter is because college math gives you 6 credits, and 3 of those will duplicate beginning algebra. You come out +3 doing the college math CLEP + intermediate.

Thanks Jennifer! I am a bit confused though. Why shouldn't I take 001 Beginning Algebra- MAT102 and 002 Intermediate Algebra- MAT115 through ALEKS? These do not duplicate since I have Mat-121 right? Also wouldn't the Algebra CLEp duplicate through TESC? It seems like it would if you already have three math courses that are all Algebra based. Thanks again! Big Grin

Supervision, human resource management, principals of management, and organizational behavior all were similar to the point it almost felt like cheating! Learn Maslov's principals once and get 12 credits.

I'm planning January exams and I'm wondering if my students have passed CLEP Management and DSST Supervision would it be best to study for HR Management or Organizational Behavior first?

Passed:

American Gov, US History 1, US History 2, Computing, Info Systems, Humanities, Sociology, Art, Western Civ I, Western Civ II, Social Sciences and History, Civil War, Business, Vietnam, A&I Lit, Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, American Lit, English Lit, Astronomy, Supervision, 1 FEMA, Total -79

Soup,

You could have it finished in 1.5-2 days. Do Begininning Algebra first, take you maybe 2hrs max. Once initial assessment complete and its over 70% go to ACE and request credit for course. Wait anywhere from 30min to 1day for the course to read approved and you can switch your aleks account to intermediate Algebra and repeat. You can go to the ALEKS thread for the specific details. Once both courses have moved from approved to actually on the ACE transcript you can order transcript ($40) addressed to TESC registrars office.

But -- Cooks idea is great if you remember alot of the math stuff.

If I may, what Cook is saying is you could take the MAT 102/103 CLEP -College Mathematics. It is a combined LL math course for 6 credits. I copied the test description below. And at the same time you could complete the ALEKS intermediate algebra MAT 115. This way you could get 9 credits CLEP & ALEKS (MAT 102, MAT 103 & MAT 115) vs 6 credits with ALEKS only (MAT 102 & MAT 115). The only issue with this is you are not sitting at home with Mathway: Math Problem Solver as your tutor. :-)

Soup, Cooks plan would also cancel your need for COS-101 Intro to Computers. Hope this makes sense to you.

soupbone Wrote:So an educated guess on how long it would take me to finish up the two Maths? Take into account the College Algebra I took was in 2006, I studied my butt off, and I got an A in the course. hilarious

I'm about to sign up for Aleks and I'm just curious what you think...

That makes sense now. Since I got an A in my college Algebra course just a few years ago I think I should be able to get through them quickly. I think instead of trying the CLEP I'll stick with Aleks for math and take Intro Sociology, Psychology, and Computing. Once I wrap these up I'll figure out the rest of them. So far so good!

Good! Remember to sign up as an independent user so you get both the master and student account. Also, they now have available prep for beg algebra and prep for interm algebra. You can play with the software for a few minutes prior to doing the real assessment to get yourself acclimated to the program. Take advantage and run the problems on mathway, especially play with the graphs (awesome) when you enter your problem be sure to check the coordinates box and it will give you all the points. Sweet little feature. Also test the quadratic formula, and the geometry stuff. We all give many thanks to NJ593 for this little pearl. Have fun its a real blast! You might find yourself addicted like some others around here and immediately jump on precalc or trig...stats even just for the heck of it! Let's see how many credits we can get for that $20 bucks? hilarious

I was just as bad with FEMA. Felt like the walking dead for the two weeks I spent with those courses but 18 credits were worth every lost minute of sleep cause they are sitting real pretty on my transcripts right now. Did I say free of charge! Ok, Im going to complete a quick DF and sit down with a drink (yeah I know its early) to enjoy the Christmas spirit.

Happy Holidays to Everyone!!!

This is so widely mentioned all over the board that I think I'm missing where it must be mentioned here??

CLEP English Lit
CLEP American Lit
CLEP Humanities (50% Lit)

(I think this set would go really well after Analyzing Lit)
TESC Criminal Justice BA '12
B&M Civil Engineering BS (In Progress)

Adjusted in that order.
Would u say humanities is harder than American lit?
