I think Latin would be easier to learn than Chinese.

Done both -- enjoyed both ---and you're right! Unless of course, you were born into a Chinese-language environment, or learned at a very early age. Then again, nobody recommended Chinese to the OP, though both Latin and Chinese come in very handy if one is trying to get an understanding of Ezra Pound's Cantos.
