The Duggars and CollegePlus
mrs.b Wrote:After 28 pages of disputing anyone who had a slightly different interpretation of the comments, this sounds strangely like a stance of "anyone who disagreed with me or somewhat agreed with someone who disagreed with me is going on ignore." Which is a perfectly legitimate stance - it's a free world and all - but sanantone...hon...really?

Mr. Whatley's puppy speaks to my heart. Let's all agree to disagree, hug, and get back to doing what is done best? No, it is not. I clearly said that anyone who lied about or distorted what I said. That has nothing to do with disagreeing with me. Rebel flat out lied about me saying that I hate the fat people I work with. Anyone can read the credential stacking thread for themselves.

I did a bit ago when two of my favorite posters to read lost their biz on one another for no explainable reason. (Is this what 29 pages does to people? Let's never do this again! Someone should slap a "danger" label on the "post" button after page 7 or so.)

I understand what you're saying you meant. I also understand that, in a text-driven environment like an internet forum, without expression or tone to lend meaning, how Rebel could have interpreted what he seems to have, given how that particular post was written. It doesn't make anyone right or wrong, and it doesn't make anyone a horrible or deceptive person. Misunderstandings happen over much less, by people who aren't exhausted after running in circles for multiple pages. That's tiring!

So...I'll stop contributing to the further downspiral or page 30 drive, put my agree to disagree hat on, and wander off to do some work.

I just wanted to "celebrate" the fact that this thread got to 30 pages.

Has anyone already mentioned this fact? I can't tell because I stuck everyone who has posted in this thread on my ignore list. Oooh... it just occurred to me that if someone answers me I won't be able to read the response.

It would take some serious reading comprehension issues to misinterpret this as "I hate the fat people I work with."

I guess staying at my current job would be the reasonable thing to do. I actually disliked my last job for the most part and stayed there for almost 4 years. I more than just dislike this job. It is so bad, I'm afraid it's going to start taking a toll on my mental and physical health. Most of the people I work with are obese, miserable, and have some kind of health problem. The stress is on par with being an air traffic controller. Even police officers have told me that they would not want my job.

I'm only ignoring 3 people so far, so it won't have much impact on my reading of this forum.

Do the moderators lock threads around here (I'm too new to know for sure)? If they do, ahem, this one is ready. Sanantone has made her point. Others have as well. Now all we have left is people not speaking to each other. Bummer.

Okay, first off, thank you sanantone, and all the others who responded to my last question. I have been very busy, and have not been able to be on here for, a long time...
so here I will jump back in.
Note: I will be busy, and so I can not say when I can be on, but I will be around eventually and I will respond to what people are saying....

Jonathan Whatley Wrote:You have to take scheduled courses, from a school with Title IV federal student aid eligibility. These can be distance learning courses. Each of the Big Three, Liberty, and over 4,490 other two- and four-year colleges (2009-10 numbers) are eligible to award Pell Grants. The courses will have deadlines.
Sooo... in other words... it is not an solution to the problem college plus is fixing.

sanantone Wrote:Many families don't have the kind of money to pay CP. I don't know why that's so hard to understand.

I would not say that it is hard to understand, I would just say that you are not understanding when others understand it.

No. You can attend college online. Shouldn't CP have explained this to you? You don't need CP to lack deadlines. The deadlines depend on the college you choose. There are self-paced options out there. CP customers who choose partner colleges other than TESC have to adhere to deadlines. Even TESC students who need to take the capstone and other courses at TESC have to be held to deadlines. I don't mean to offend, but it seems like you didn't do your homework before embarking on this journey and signing up with CP hasn't made you much more informed.

No.

Many people have no other option than to depend on grants and loans. $3,000 is a lot of money for a family that is financially struggling.

I agree that this could be true. Jesus said that we would always have the poor among us. This will always be the case, and will not be solved until the Lord comes again.

Well, sanantone, as far as I can see, the only problem you are having is the cost. Cost. Cost. Cost. That has about an 75% chance rate to be in one of your posts... or accusing others of twisting what you said, and calling them lairs.... that has about a 10% chance rate... so far.

[quote=sanantone]Now I am anti-American because I don't agree with your political views? That is anti-American in itself because it rejects individualism. Considering that I went to graduate school to enter the national security field, I don't see how I can be anti-American. I never did say that students are entitled to CP's services. I did, however, say that people could get the same information for free. Yes, taxpayers have footed the bill for grants and loans which you have partaken in and promote so much. You promote them so much, one would think that you were the socialist. But guess what. Having people go to college on tax dollars is better than them living on welfare for the rest of their lives and these same people will pay back more in taxes than what they received in financial aid. Millions of students have used tax dollars to attend college, not just the poor.

So.... are you saying that all schools and everything should be owned and funded by the government, which will pay the employees and leave education and other things free to the poor, and then turn right around and take back what they paid their employees? This will follow down the line to where the Government will even start expecting the poor to pay for stuff because they have no money and are being given a bunch of "Free" Education that is costing the government a lot? I could go on to where would the government get this money, etc. etc. etc. but I would be here all night... probably tomorrow too....

I never said that I hate the fat people that I work with or anything close to it. I said that they were obese, had health problems, and were miserable. High stress jobs do that to people and I don't want to end up like that. You just love lying and when people lie about what I have said.
If I am not mistaken, this was used as an example, not saying you said anything like this....

So... Sanantone, we are left with two basic options.... Schooling from home, independantly, or with an institution helping you along the way, OR, going to a traditional college and pay for classes, or get grants for them.

No. For me, there is basically one answer at this point in my life. Schooling from home. Now, you say anyone can get a bachelors degree on their own, and I do not see how that is possible, as you can not get a recognized "degree". So that means, I need to use an institution, like College Plus, to help you out to get a recognized degree.

What she means is that no one needs to use an institution "like CollegePlus." The institution you need to earn a recognized college degree is a recognized college, whether it's Thomas Edison State College, Liberty University, or Harvard University.
