TESC suspends acceptance of FEMA
#21
Hey guys, I just got off the phone with TESC. They told me that they are no longer taking FEMA credits AFTER March the 5th. So if you took the courses prior to March the 5th then they are accepted. I took my credits back in January so they are accepted. I will call again this afternoon to verify again.

I am having trouble accessing the FEMA wesite this morning to take these courses (for COSC). Can anyone else access the FEMA website or course materials?
I don't know what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future.

Hmmm, not working for me either.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Apparently they are down for scheduled maintenance, so it is just a coincidence that this is happening today. It says they will be back on March 7.

Hi Everyone,

I will reply to the other thread as well, but just wanted you to know that I just got off the phone with TESC. As per email confirmation from them, the last transcript sent to them was my last FEMA transcript. From what I can gather they received it on the 28th of February (thank God it was before March 5th) and the first one on February 7th. The adviser confirmed that those credits should be accepted, though she said my evaluation was undergoing an update and I will be getting an email when that has been done. I'm sure that the word will be final by then, but it all looks good now, though I will wait to breathe a sigh of relief until then. Just FYI.

This is interesting. The email said that only if you had documented approval before March 5th would they accept them. So in my case, I took 2 FEMA courses back in 2011, but I never sent them the transcript or had them plan the courses on my degree plan, so I'm pretty sure they won't accept them for me. If what they told you is correct though, that would be great!

I'm not surprised, but I'm wondering what caused TESC to stop accepting FEMA credits all of a sudden. Congrats to everyone who got to take advantage of FEMA credits!

I e-mailed TESC last night, and told them that their acceptance of FEMA credits was one of the reasons I chose to apply to them. They basically told me I could try to petition it, but chances are it wouldn't work, or they could refund me my application fee. I am going to really look at Excelsior and COSC again, but the LDAS or Human Services degree through TESC was looking so promising. I don't remember seeing any sort of "build your own program" at Excelsior or COSC.

I am also sort of wondering if these could be "washed" through Frederick's CC still. If anyone finds out, please post!
