Athabasca University's 90 Credit Undergrad
#1
Has anyone here considered Athabasca rather than the big 3? Given that their program allows 100% transfer credit (like the big 3) but is only 90 credits (rather than 120 @ COSC, Excelsior and TESC) - I would be curious to see if anyone has leveraged their program using IC.

Looks like it still requires 30 credits of upper division credits, otherwise I'd be tempted! I wonder if any US grad schools would accept that degree as "a bachelors degree from an accredited institution?"

[SIZE="2"][COLOR="Navy"] The 90 -vs- 120 credit option...

Athabasca U. Tuition: 3 credits = $884 x 30 classes = $26520. :eek:

-vs-

3 credits @ $884 compared to approximately a dozen clep exams that can earn 3-12 credits per exam, for arguments sake let's just pick five 6-credit exams and seven-3 credit exams for a total of 71 credits. Just double this program for 141 credits earned under $2000. Big Grin

I took a few classes there when I lived in Canada. Can't remember the name but the company that I had to use to get my credits transfered to Excelsior recommended them as 4 credit courses. That may be why the degree is listed as 90 hours.

Sorry for the late post but...

Brian, unless I am mistaken, Athabasca is $80 application fee + $200 credit transcription fee...and they allow 100% credit transfer (e.g. you need not take 1 class at Athabasca).

My point here is that it seems like a good alternative to the big 3; certainly worth considering and possibly cheaper.

Now you have my curiosity aroused. It sounds worth checking into, in fact I may do just that once I complete my latest degree pursuit.

While looking for info on this I ran across this thread at another forum...

Extra Degree - No Work - Degreeboard.com, Inc.

According to this they dont do CLEPs, not suprising since the degree lets you use 6 credits MAX 100 level classes..I am curious if they xfr in if they have been accepted by a US college.

Also from looking at the main site they do offer 4 year degree, so from that fact and some info in the above link in Canda this is considered a terminal degree, although it does look like some grads schools here take it.

This info is about Indian degrees Three Year Indian Degree
lists some schools that take (or consider really) 3 year degrees, like Canda the Indian system is British based.
