Fall 2022 - What is YourPace?
#11
Thank you for the advice. Sometimes I overthink these things and slow myself down. I just need to get out of my own way.

However, I am finding it so difficult to get through the first essay. I have an extremely hard time writing and am doubting whether this school was a good choice. Thankfully I just started Monday and still have time to withdraw. I'm not sure what to do/where to go at this point.

Since you qualify for the full pell grant, you only need to do two courses a term to be considered full-time,  in which case the term should be free. So I would try it, at least for the first two courses, since you have nothing to lose.

For me, it's easier to write if I create a detailed outline first. So I would do that first, following the instructions and rubric. Then fill in the content, submit a draft, and see what the professor says.

How many courses do you have to take to finish your degree? Looks like quite a few more than 10.

Thank you for your reply. I am going to make a real attempt to do these essays. I appreciate the tip about the outline. I have been out of school for 15 years and feel like my brain has turned into soup, so I'm just going to go slow and hope things will get easier.

I have 20 classes left currently but was thinking of switching to a minor in management as that will bring it down to 16.

@sixxx2069, did you already start the session on the 29th of August? 20 classes for a CJ minor, and 16 for a Management minor. Have you thought about transferring more courses in before you actually begin? I usually tell people to try and max out to 90 credits or at least close to that number before starting. I've had people delay a session and they were able to complete the transfer credit prior to starting at UMPI...

I did start on the 29th. I'm working on American Gov and English Comp I right now which I need as RA credit. The uni I'm going to after UMPI doesn't accept ACE credit so I was hoping to get as much RA credit as possible for transferability reasons. I will see what I can get done this session and postpone the next one if necessary.

When you're done with the BUS 260 Leadership you can ask for courses to be added to your course load and work on them...  Good luck and have fun going at your comfy pace!
Yes! I turned in my final draft yesterday, got the green light to submit and it got affirmed today! On to POL 211 and still working on Leadership!

Update for Fall 1:
Just finished writing my paper for Arab-Israeli, so 8 courses down, 2 to go to finish my degree! I have a goal to have my final papers written and turned in for drafts for my last 2 courses (HUM 103 and Marxism) by 10/7. Should be totally feasible!

I easily got through the milestones for both classes, but then I struggled with the final essay for HUM 103. I had an awful case of writer's block, and I couldn't come up with a suitable topic. It was also slowing down my progress in ENG 101. But I got over it and turned in the draft for HUM 103 this morning. I'm now working on the ENG 101 final and I just started on BUS 200.

I have been thinking about my topic for HUM 103 all day! It has to be a complex topic so you can critically analyze it in 10 pages!

I was also anxious about page length, until I realized that the essay is double spaced. That is what makes the paper long. There's also the title and references. In the end, my essay was 10 pages long.

As for the topic, I ended up using one of the examples from the instructions, but I slightly modified it. It's not so bad once you figure it out.

BUS 200 is a breeze. the final is a word brochure, PowerPoint presentation, and an excel sheet. The professor is really nice.
