ASU $400 x 7 = $2800 (21 credits) vs TESU $77 x $77 = $539 (21 credits)
Call me crazy, but one side seems expensive for UL credits for the financial goals that tend to be within this forum.
So, first, your math is completely wrong, as is your info.
UL TECEP exams are $77 per CREDIT, not per course. So 21cr of UL would be $1,616.
Also, $77 x $77 = $5929. For what it's worth.
I'm mostly being snarky here because of your tone. Acting like someone else is dumb about something, but then giving incorrect info, is just begging for snark.

I never insinuated someone was dumb and just shared that there were cheaper options. A $400 per course is not the most expensive, but it becomes really expensive compared to free or $77 per credit.
It was $77 x 7 courses ...$77 x $77 was a typo, but I appreciate the math lesson.
Thank you for the correction on it being per credit / that's on me. I went off my sister's share and did not research the details. It seemed crazy cheap for TESU, but with the free Coursera UL credits earned, I thought it was possible.
We agree (I think) it's still a significant saving which was my overall interest in sharing.
The dumb comment has thrown me, especially when I have never demonstrated that style with my posts. However, if that is how my post made you feel, I will take note.

Theres also the fact that teceps are pass/fail and asu ul are graded. I know for my business degree I was going to take a UL tecep to meet the req. but my school's business college is strict and for UL business course in the major all transfer credit had to be letter grade credit from an RA school with a C or above and I tried but p/f didn't count.
During I covid I switched my courses to p/f and they warned me about transferability.
So yes this ASU thing expensive for the big 3 but outside of the big 3 the gold standard of transferability is letter graded RA credit. I have a lot of credit, and every single one of my letter graded RA credit (that I didn't fail) transferred to every school I've attended. Sure sometimes it transferred as free elective but it always transferred with no issues. Same could not be said with ACE, my ACE went to waste when I got my bachelors.

If you are not graduating from ASU, the credit value is equal to the lowest-ranked school in the world. Once transferred into UMPI (or any other school), Havard UL credits are just credits minus the creative story one can share in an interview about attending Harvard.
What someone likes to do (exam vs. course) was not the topic. As with my sister's Project Management degree, she transferred four courses (3 UL & 1 LL) from Coursera at no cost due to completing each within the individual 7-day trial. Another example of there being other options that are much cheaper.
You were the same person that said those Coursera credits would not transfer, so I would step aside, saying what the TECEP would or would not transfer in for. You don't know, and as with my sister, if you can build the case, perhaps they would transfer in at a significantly cheaper cost than $400 a course.
Not looking for a back-and-forth. Just making sure future readers understand there are options.
Coursera courses don't typically transfer as they are not ACE approved. These certificates are newer and not the norm on Coursera. I have completed certificates on Coursera and they are NOT ACE approved.
I said some schools don't accept TECEPs. Some don't accept UExcel exams either. Some never accepted GRE exams either.

Coursera has several courses partnered with universities that transfer in, and several schools accept Course courses for credits, so I am not sure of your point here with the caps ' not ace approved.'
Overall I feel as if you keep promoting the negative of what might not happen, and I keep promoting the positive that it can happen. Both are accurate. Perhaps I am more optimistic than you due to personal examples and countless family members transferring in credits the masses claimed would not work. I gather you haven't experienced the same and tend to stay with the letter of the law.

To date UMPI doesn't have a partnership with Coursera. Few Coursera courses are ACE approved. The vast majority are not. ACE approvals are a fairly recent addition. Coursera continues to add courses all the time. Things will keep changing with them.
I have been to over 10 colleges here in the US. Transferring credits has been an absolute nightmare for decades. I have decades of experience with this unfortunately. I also had experiences with UMPI before folks on here did. The whole BAS thing is weird. The whole you can't complete a second bachelor's degree after a BLS thing was weird. Because of people like me who kept pushing them and asking them questions over and over, they have made a ton of changes. They now allow a second bachelor's degree after graduating with a BLS. They are one of the most flexible schools out there. Excelsior - in my experience - sucks when it comes to flexibility and their advisors don't know anything. Their response time is dreadful if they even respond. WGU gave me 3 enrollment specialists when I applied for their MSML. I never completed the admissions process because no one would answer my emails or voicemails. Then there's the on campus programs I've attended. Just because you graduated with an associate degree from a SUNY school doesn't mean that you will be accepted to the program of your choice. Nor does it mean that they will accept 60+ credits from that associate degree and make you a junior. Sure, you're guaranteed admission into the university, but not your specific program which is really useless. Been there done that. Had the t-shirt and burned it.

The start seemed like a response to me, but the second half seemed more like a bio, perhaps for someone else; however, it was an excellent read and fantastic to see your academic journey.
With five Coursera certs counted at UMPI, covering four classes (+business electives), I don't carry the experience received from previous students. In addition, the new approval is due to the letters (emails) from my sister building a case and being the first to receive the approvals. We both believe the transfer credit success tends to be on the student much more than the school policies. My favorite response is no; the accepted challenge is to change them into a yes. It does not always work, but it has worked for our family at UMPI, TESU, WGU, ASU & USC (not to mention my father's doctorate journey). Super small sample size, though the process continues to be similar in how you get approval through not giving up.

The last post before yours was a week and a half ago. Plenty of threads on here derail which is typical for forums.

In support of @ss20ts, it was odd to have your post @Tedium jump in a thread that naturally came to an end. Suggesting a PM made it seem there was a quarrel vs. a disagreement. If all talks in this vein went to PM, there would have been less entertainment in Degreeforum, as you put it, and far fewer quality discussions.
