My son received a notification that Study.com is switching over to non-proctored, open-book final exams for their College Saver plan beginning at the end of February. Exams will no longer be recorded. They will be switching over to keystroke pattern verification and ID verification.
This was added to their FAQs today: https://support.study.com/support/soluti...exams-faqs

Amazing, they're leaning towards Sophia.org and other providers that don't use video based proctoring or recording anymore as some people find it invasive, or others are anxious when they're taking a proctored exam, even if it's just recording vs a live proctor such as ProctorU. I recall LawShelf.com, Saylor.org, Sophia.org and now Study.com is on the bandwagon. Great stuff, UMPI can now be completed, entirely non-proctored for those starting out!

Wow! Will this mean cheaper monthly rates? This is where Sophia currently beats them by a mile.

Would be nice, but probably not - Study has a ton of upper level courses by comparison, so they've carved out a nice niche for themselves.

I hope this is for all courses. I'm trying not to get my hopes up since all of their proctored test info is still posted on their site.

This might mean more non-proctored courses could be taken per month if the two exams plus three more at extra cost policy remains.

Essentially, I think there may be some miscommunication on this... They're not changing the number of exams, it's just the medium they're using is different for proctoring. The cost shouldn't be affected, nor the number of exams possible in that monthly membership. So, you're going to have a max of 5 per month.

Makes sense. But this new non-proctoring setup should be less labor intensive, saving them a little money.

Exams still required, no change in count or pricing, switch to no more recordings and exams are now open-book whereas before they were video recorded and closed book.
The course Health 302 has a final project in lieu of an exam. Only one so far.

be interesting to see if this changes the way some schools accept the courses
the courses may still maintain ACE accreditation, but that doesn't mean schools have to accept them
