UMPI BAS to WGU Master's Program

WGU would welcome you with open arms. You may even find that a few proctored exams instead of papers are a welcome break from writing. I completed the MBA in four months because the program offered a nice balance so I never experienced burnout from writing. If I finished a challenging class that required a proctored exam (C214 Financial Management comes to mind), I looked forward to writing essays on Ethical Leadership in the next course. You probably are already better prepared for a WGU master’s program (and the obligatory APA 7 papers) than many who did their undergrad at WGU (where citations/references are seldom required). Thanks for that. I was watching a couple of videos on YT describing the classes and the ones that worry me are the math adjacent ones and those exams. I absolutely dread anything having to do with math so that’s given me a bit of pause.

I’ll let you in on a little secret: They’ve moved the heavier math typically found in MBA programs (linear regression, time value of money, bonds, etc.) to Excel (and they have Excel cohorts you can join or free tutoring if you need it). The math in the MBA program at WGU is mostly fifth grade level multiplication and division. DuPont Formulas sounds difficult, but they’re grade school stuff. I promise you it will not be an issue. Take it from someone who has never passed an algebra class in my lifetime. Let me know if I can help.

Going from a state system at UMPI to a state endorsed institution at WGU is a great option, WGU has offerings not available at UMPI. It's like a one-two punch or an ideal ladder from a CBE Bachelors to a CBE Masters. Depending on what degree program you're looking at, the learning curve shouldn't be all that much different or harder...
