Does anyone have any advice on study material for the humanities clep test ?

Notice the link to Amazon for customer reviews of the REA book. The customer reviews are all over the place. Like any other test, the prior background of the test taker must be taken into consideration. What is easy for one person isn't easy for another.

I would say if you focus mainly on the literature portion of the test and use the InstantCert flash cards along with ponygirl's study guide you should do great! I almost did a cartwheel at my testing station after I saw my test results. I wasn't expecting a 61 I thought I was going to skim by with a 50, so the tools I mentioned above are definitely the best to get you through the test. Also get acquainted with some impressionist, post-impressionist, baroque, and art nouveau paintings and artists. I went to the library and checked out some movies on these and I am so glad I did. I breezed right through the art and architecture portion like nothing.

Good luck and believe me if I can do it and I've been out of the school setting for 14 years then anyone can do it.:nopity:

I have word docs with info on Am Lit, Eng Lit, and some general Humanities stuff. Lots of info gathered from these forums, then some stuff I googled. I will email them to anybody who PMs me an email address [:

Ponygirl, I am getting ready to take the Literature CLEP to supplement the English Composition I took a few weeks back to fulfill my English 2 requirement. I did not see any literature flashcards in InstantCert, should I use your study guide for this exam along with the info I studied for, for my Humanities test? Will that be enough? Another thing is that there are several literature CLEPs I can take and I don't know which one is the one I need to get out of English 2.

You should probably contact your college to see what test you need to take. Here's what I used:
Analyzing & Interp. Lit: REA (wasn't necess. though)
English Lit: Barron's EZKeys, the study notes, *sparknotes.com*!!!!!!!
Am Lit: SparkNotes.com!!!!!!, the study notes, misc. other online resources

I think that sparknotes is a better resource than any book study guide could be (although I have heard that the Idiot's Guides are excellent), just because the tests focus a lot on understanding the plot line of the book. Both tests are completely doable without any official study guide, although English Lit is so broad that an Anthology or a Guide helps immensely.

I certainly shall keep you all posted. I may not take that one until February, I've got too many CLEPs I want to take before that one, which is why I wanted to know if the Humanities material was at all comparable to the Literature exams.
