For the first essay, you might not be given a topic to argue for or against. I was given a broad topic and told to write about one particular aspect of it.
For the second essay, it’s almost easier because you have your sources and info provided. All you do is pick a side and USE BOTH SOURCES IN YOUR ESSAY to support your side.
If you’re not enrolled in a college now (like I wasn't) your essay gets graded by College Board. Then the multiple-chioce and essay parts are equally weighted and you’re given a final grade.
