For the actual CLEP, if you aren't very familiar with poetry, you should read a few poems to get yourself in the "mood." Also, you should study literary terms. There aren't a ton of questions, but there's enough that it has made the difference between a pass or fail with some.
The types of questions are mostly "advanced" reading comprehension questions. You read a passage (several paragraphs), and then answer questions like meanings of words in context, overall meaning/feelings of passages, etc.
In the private forum, you'll get more detail and exact lit terms to study.
