For History, some examples I could think of. Work in a Museum, National Park, walked the battlefields of the civil war, been to those sites, seen some of the iconic American history objects/landmarks in real life and not just seen them on youtube. As for Biology, been to a real lab, worked on things that a molecular biologist is supposed to work on, not just read about it in a text book.
