Some of them are so affordable and it looks like you can earn certificates too. I was thinking about using some of them to brush up on some skills. I know they may not "count for anything" as far as transfer credits etc. but I'm just wondering about utility for employment if I wanted to show I have recent educational experience in certain topics, even without a degree behind those specific skills.
I agree with everyone else, apples and oranges.
BUT, I have a really robust "Relevant Professional Development" section on my resume, and it's full of brand name MOOCs. If or when they offer a CEU/certificate, I usually get it unless it's too $$$. I have a lot more than I list, and I tailor it to the job. This is a copy/paste from the version of my CV sent to a community college applying for an adjunct position teaching a health and wellness course (teaching job for a college credit course, not for CE course- that matters) Master's was required (which I have) but my master's is in nutrition, not "health" specifically. Hard to say if adding these in contributed to the job offer, but it certainly didn't hurt - and I did get the offer.
