Also, when looking at which school you want to go to, you should always look forwards instead of backwards.  Backwards is "what did I get for the credits I brought in?" and forwards is "how much will it cost and how long will it take to complete my degree?"  So remember to do that when looking at degree plans.

Now, I'm not sure if you understand how WGU works, since you mentioned 1-2 years, but you can finish in less than 6 months if you know the material.  If you don't, it may take longer.  TESU will take a full month to evaluate your credits, and then it will take at least 12 weeks to do your cornerstone and capstone courses, plus the time it takes to do the graduation audit, and then the graduation date...so it will probably be at least 6 months if not longer.  But, I don't think there's a hard cutoff date, it's just your goal, so nothing terrible happens if you graduate in March of next year instead of December of this year.

For both schools, you need to see where all of your courses come in, and then what you have left to take.  You can use any course provider to finish your courses.

For the Pell Grant, I think I've read that you won't get the full grant since you won't be considered a full-time student at TESU if you're only taking 6cr?  Not certain of that.  Then, on top of the $2800 residency waiver that's not covered by the Pell Grant (I don't think), you're looking at more out of pocket than WGU would be I think.  I'm not an expert on Financial Aid, so I would look at including those costs into your degree plans.

I get how wgu works but the idea of 6 months or less is impossible and honestly you may be the one missing the point. The classes waive by an associates degree is less than a 1/3 of the whole cs degree compare to 3/4 of the tesu degree. It's not backwards if coming in I have to do much more work for honestly the same degree. Wgu is the same as tesu in name. All I'm doing is taking more classes for a longer time. Wgu cna be faster but for me to finish in 6 months would take a lot of work that I explain before. I would have to take about 10 or more classes through study.com on top of wgu courses. There is something most people are not realizing st the end of the day there is less TOTAL cs courses for tesu require than wgu. I am not taking 20 plus courses versus the 10 I need for tesu. With my current workload plus my classes it will more than likely not be able to finish maybe more than 10 by july end. Thus it will take me more than 6 months for wgu to finish no more what defeating my purpose. The problem with these posts is people are ignoring my purpose and constantly arguing one side that doesnt work for everyone. The cost for me is not much for what I value. Base on some posts I'm out 4,000 total all fee included versus a full year at wgu. Maybe 2 years is too long but 20 plus cs courses at wgu in 6 months is impossible. Tesu takes more credits and I earn them I rather use them. Things may chnage by july but the point is it's just not useful to go to wgu as my one goal is to finish as fast as possible and wgu is not the way no matter what others say for my situation in reality it's not. Could it be done. Yes but would it be 2x more difficult yes so why would i do that for arguably no more gain in name or education.

1) I was trying to figure out what degree you wanted, 2) I was explaining some things that seemed unclear, both for you and for future readers of this post, regarding looking forwards/backwards, and 3) I don't have a preference for which school you go to.

One of the things you said was the you wanted to graduate by the end of the year, and it's hard to do at TESU.  So I was giving you another option.

You also talked about financial aid, and I was pointing out that you probably wouldn't get what you thought you might get.  That's important for some people, even if it's not for you.

You're right on no gain in name, but you're probably wrong in no gain in education.  If a school requires MORE courses in the major, then you're probably going to learn more in that major.

But you do you, some people are big proponents of WGU here, and see it as a way for someone with a lot of experience to get their degree faster, and less expensive than some other schools.  But if it doesn't work for you, I get it (it wouldn't work for me either).
