Email Jessica and see if you can complete an alternative course, you're going to by emailing or speaking with her anyways in regards to the GEC E - POS101, American Government course. I would ask about Art History I or II at Sophia.org!
Thank you again for pointing me in the direction of UMPI!Just as a PSA, the Sophia Art History courses seem to fill only 2E now. I did email Jessica because I remembered that I took Photography at a SUNY. It involved both taking photos myself to create my own portfolio and writing critiques of other photographers' work, so I asked her why it wouldn't fulfill "Students will be able to produce a tangible expression of creativity." We'll see what she says. I don't mind taking POS101 or HUM130 there; I was just curious to see if anyone had an alt-credit recommendation that I could knock out as I waited.
Art History has never filled the studio art requirement in the GEC. Art History fills 2E of the GEC which gets you out of HUM103. POS101 is American Government which can be taken on InstantCert and transferred in. If your photography class was a studio art class it should fill 2D of the GEC but that is determined by the Registrar. Jessica is an advisor (amongst other things) and the ultimate decision is made by the Registrar on transferability.
Thank you! That makes sense. I vaguely remember seeing a post somewhere saying that Art History would fill it, which I thought was odd at the time. In any case, I will wait and see what they say.

Photography is one of the courses listed to fulfill 2D, so I'm guessing it will work. Since you didn't list it here, I'm wondering if you actually sent your SUNY transcript there, and if they've evaluated it yet. That may be the issue.
Lol, yes. I forgot about that one when I wrote the post here but I did manage to remember to send it to UMPI. I took it close to 20 years ago. I asked Jessica because I thought that one would fill the studio art/creativity requirement, but it came in as an art elective. In doing some research, I'm wondering whether it's because the course I took is no longer offered. It changed to a new class that still involves taking pictures but seems to emphasize the critiques more. That particular SUNY used to offer detailed learning evaluations in narrative form that described in detail what we did in each class and why we got the grades that we got. I'm literally digging through boxes of old papers trying to find it (I left a message at that college's registrar's office to get them to resend it to me too). I'm also wondering if it'd be easier to submit my portfolio or apply for a waiver (I worked as a photographer for 15 years and have been published a lot). We'll see what they say. I don't mind taking one of the two classes they listed for that requirement, but if I've learned anything from this journey, it's that it doesn't hurt to ask.
