If I have courses that do not apply to my current BABA M&L degree do those count towards the minimum 10 courses from UMPI?
It has to go somewhere within the degree, gen eds, major, electives - take your pick, but see below for recommendation
example: I take all but 4 courses for a BABA M&L degree (10 req - 4 taken = 6 left for Residency) then take the remaining 6 courses in a minor.
1. would all the classes count towards residency? Yes, You need a minimum of 10 courses for residency
2. would I meet all requirements for both degrees (or if there a minimum courses per degree required)?
If you're doing a major/minor, it's still just one degree. You need a minimum of 10. My recommendation has been to take the UL in the free electives area.
I'm going to copy/paste what I typed earlier in the thread in post #27 & 30 just for review:
@uncoolbilly, you most likely will have the 10 UMPI course residency requirements completed with the BABA M&L concentration, so for the MIS minor, you can try transferring in the max you can from known sources of credit such as Saylor, Sophia, Study.com or whatever. You don't need to do all of them, just ones that don't have course transfers...
The credits that "disappear" actually go into the "other courses" under the degree requirements. It'll just show up on the transcript of your completed courses. There's nothing to worry about, make sure to hit all the requirements, especially the upper-level residency requirements, I would shoot for at least 24 UL outside the major/minor completed at UMPI.
