What course did you take first and how did it go?
Staring at the registration screen right now and I'm a bit overwhelmed.
You must complete foundational courses in your first year, but I didn't see much discussion of them here when I tried to search.
CS 6603: AI, Ethics, and Society. Basically a Python and Pandas data manipulation course. Very easy. I'm sure most students had worked on Pandas during their undergraduate career
CS 7646 Machine Learning for Trading. If you've taken TESU FIN 3210 Security Analysis and Portfolio Management or similar and know forwards, futures, options, CAPM, efficient frontier inside and out, it will be a breeze. Putting all those concepts in Python with numpy is so much easier than solving partial differential equations by hand! Regression, K-Nearest Neighbors, ensemble learning are all covered in any undergraduate data science course. The only new material is just reinforcement learning
OMSCS reddit had a lot more information that you can check out
