US lawyer here - qualified to take the bar with the combination of a foreign law degree + a US LLM.
If you’re considering a first law degree from a country outside of Australia, the first step is to find out what foreign legal training, if any, does Australia recognize.
Take the UK for an example, unless you’ve passed the bar and have significant practice experience, the foreign qualification route isn’t even an option. Personally, I know a lawyer barred in Australia who is currently taking conversion courses just to get double qualified in the UK.
