If the entire degree is Pass/Fail, how can one move on to a doctoral program that requires a GPA above 3.0?

There’s a quiet but extensive history of students with ungraded transcripts going on to higher programs that generally require a certain GPA. A handful of prestigious US liberal arts colleges use narrative evaluations fully in lieu of letter or number grades or make letter or number grades optional. Forms of pass-fail grading are increasingly seen in graduate programs, including law schools and medical schools.
