Lamar University: One Free Graduate Level Course
#25
(09-28-2025, 09:09 AM)BradburyFan Wrote: I was able to enroll from New England.

I chose Special Education Law.  3 graduate-level credits, 5 week course.

Blackboard platform
Textbooks not provided, but I was able to rent it (by the month) for $7.50/mo from the publisher, Pearson.

Classroom opened 2 days before official start.  People started submitting week 1 discussions before official start, so nothing seemed to be locked when the classroom became available.

Coursework includes:
*Reading 3 chapters/wk from the text.
*Weekly discussion board post ("at least 2 paragraphs of 6 to 10 sentences each")
- respond to at least 3 classmates ("at least 1 paragraph of 6 to 10 sentences")
*Weekly webinar (live, or can watch replay)
- submit 1 paragraph summary of webinar (minimum 3-5 sentences) PLUS
- submit bulleted list of key ideas listed by instructor during the video
*Weekly assignment (based on text reading and additional readings provided on Blackboard)
- Each week has a template that has to be used to respond to presented questions
- Can't be submitted late, submissions get locked
*Quizzes - Week 2, 4 (multiple choice, 20 questions each)
* Final exam - Week 5 (multiple choice, 30 questions)

Some of the courses available are undergrad, some grad.  The SPED Law class was big, nearly all current educators, many working toward Education Diagnostician credentials.

Once I was approved for a class, the links sent weren't working to enroll in the specific class.  The registrar was VERY helpful and responded quickly.  IT had the issue solved within an hour.  I didn't receive any info about books, etc., with enrollment - the registrar looked it up for me.

Oh no. I missed this one. What do you think?   I wonder if they will offer this again.
