Can't figure out the CLEP scoring! Argh!

HedyBrown Wrote:I joined InstaCert for the Statistics help. It's my only hope to get through this; I'm so stupid with math that the IRS sent my taxes back this year with a note saying I'd tried to overpay because I subtracted wrong. STUPID.

And to answer you, Barcotta, I'm in my thirties, and I'm an Irish History major at Regis in Denver. Irish History rather than marketing because it required less math :-) I'm CLEPping to save time. And Math.

You can click on the Statistics link in my signature below to get my take on the DSST exam. Based on your description of your math prowess, I think the DSST may be a good way to go because it appears to be an EXTREMELY forgiving exam (you'll find posts on this forum from people who just guessed their way through it and passed--knowing nothing more than some basic probability) and you have time so you can prepare slowly.

If I were you, I would get the Standard Deviants videos for Stats. They are designed so that a 1st grader would have a decent shot at understanding. I would then use the Specific Exam Feedback section and select one book that someone recommended. You don't want too many sources. If there's a conflict between the book and InstantCert--go with the book. There shouldn't be many. Finally, when you get to the ugly stuff that makes your eyes roll up in the back of your head--just skip it. If you get the basics based on my feedback--take your time--use the Standard Deviants--get a good "Stats for Dummies"-type book and IC, you WILL pass and never, ever have to think of it again.
