7 months of post 9/11 after completing masters
#1
I will be finishing my Masters in Cyber from UMBC this semester with 7 months time left on my post 9/11 GI Bill.  I don't want to leave money on the table but I am not sure what to do with my remaining time.  I am in Maryland and would like to meet the requirements for the housing allowance.

Topics I am interested in in descending order:

Japanese - already self studying in my "spare time", but not alot of that these days
Python or similar scripting language - I dabble but I could really use formal training
Data Science - Interested but I don't have calc credits from undergrad
Mexican cuisine (half joking but tempted)

Does anyone know any available programs in these areas that meet the VA requirements for the housing?

Thanks

If you want to follow your degree up with GIAC certs and get BAH too, look at the SANS program:
https://www.sans.edu/academics/certificates

They offer GIBILL BAH for four months if you take the in resident 1 week cert course in Maryland.

Consider earning an industry certification, if that's allowed and can be fit into the funding you have left.

The SANS is a good idea especially for Maryland.  I guess you need to take them in Maryland to get BAH.  I read something about the state has accredited SANS programs so the VA provides qualify if taken here.

I already have CISSP, CASP, CEH, several GIACs, a bunch of lower level certs, and I have vouchers for the MCSA and PMP that are going to expire soon.  So I am totally burned out on certification exams right now.  It is good idea for professional development.  The VA charges one month of benefits for a  single voucher.  Could be very good for really expense certs but not worth it for like a Sec+ or Microsoft test

The Post 9/11 GI Bill pays for tons if Industry CERTs, but you lose one month.  The VA has a website on the 1000's of Certs.  Check the online list.   7 Months = 7 CERTs. but no BAH etc

How about a College Certificate or new technical AAS degree?  Most only require 25% (15 SH).
Non-Traditional Undergraduate College Credits (634 SH): *FTCC Noncourse Credits (156 SH) *DSST (78 SH) *CPL (64 SH) *JST Military/ACE (48 SH) *CBA (44 SH) *CLEP (42 SH) *FEMA IS (40 SH) *FEMA EM (38 SH) *ECE/UExcel (30 SH) *PLA Portfolio (28 SH) *EMI/ACE (19 SH) *TEEX/ACE (16 SH) *CWE (11 SH) *NFA/ACE (10 SH) *Kaplan/ACE (3 SH) *CPC (2 SH) *AICP/ACE (2 SH) *Sophia/ACE (2 SH) and *FRTI-UM/ACE (1 SH).
Non-Traditional Graduate College Credits (14 SH): AMU (6 SH); NFHS (5 SH); and JSU (3 SH).
