$900 Elmwood Master of Leadership and Management (NA DEAC)
(07-26-2024, 07:48 PM)MrPanda Wrote: "Academic Calendar
Elmwood Institute utilizes a flexible, overlapping term-based structure. Students may enroll in a term
at the beginning of each month. Each term is 16 weeks in length, although students have access to
course materials and faculty during the week after the course ends. Students may enroll in one to four
courses per term (3 to 12 semester credits). Students have access to all course materials and faculty
during the week after the term ends."

As it doesn`t say: "You can be enrolled at a maximum at 4 courses at any time", it could mean that somebody could just register to 4 courses at the beginning of each term, every month? (and have 12 courses at the same time, after 3 months, in the 16 weeks schedule).

Not me of course, as I plan to take only 1 course.

"We want to assure you that your application has been successfully received and is now in our system. Our admissions team is committed to a thorough evaluation process, which, due to the high volume of applications we receive, may take several weeks to complete. Please understand that our program attracts many qualified candidates, making the selection process quite competitive. We will also need your official transcripts from University of the People sent directly to us from the institution or via a secure service such as Parchment."

Ok, thank you to the UoPeople for allowing me to apply to programs, without having to get foreign evaluations.
I took it to mean that students determine where their term starts, but once they start, they can only do one term at a time. So if they start in January, then their term is January through april, and they can only take three to four classes during that term. They cannot start a new "term" in February or March. (Perhaps if they have completed all of their courses in the term, this would be allowed?)

Also, I thought I read in the course catalog that permission was needed to take four classes in a term.

It seems like they do. They already received my ID.

In addition to that, I haven´t seen any indication to the contrary in the catalog or website.

They have already sent me the questionnaire knowing that I´m not from the US, and there´s an "International" section in "Tuition and Fees":

But on their website, it says they have CHEA accreditation. Isn't it RA?

No. CHEA is NA.
CHEA is not an accreditor. CHEA is a private organization that recognizes accreditors, such as DEAC.

This school has DEAC accreditation which is regarded as NA.

Elmwood and Patten are both NA, CHEA and/or the USDOE are not accreditors/accreditation agencies, they just oversee the accreditation process of these accreditors or accreditation agencies...

I got this email reply to my questions today.

"Course material is structured progressively, such that learning moves from the simple to the more complex, with review exercises and low-stakes assessments offered frequently to ensure that students can easily absorb the material. Additionally, a number of case studies and exercises are assigned in each course illustrating actual, real-world problems. The major objectives of the cases and exercises are to encourage the student to engage in independent thinking, apply their learning to real-world situations, and assist in developing skill in using the knowledge imparted in the course.

"The total cost of the program is $900, there are no additional fees. And no, we have no plans to increase the tuition as part of our social mission to ensure affordability.

"The course grade is the weighted average of the individual course module assignments, quizzes, midterm examinations, projects, final papers and/or final examinations as determined by the course syllabus. In most courses the lesson examinations (which may include a project) are worth approximately 80%, while the final examination is worth approximately 20%. Elmwood Institute
calculates grades numerically, which are then converted to final letter grades. Students must receive a minimum grade of 80% for each course."

If you have follow-up questions, don't ask me. This is all I know. I do feel free to contact and what Institute and post the answers to your questions here.

It looks like quizzes and exams need to be proctored, saw this in a post over at the sister forum.

"Note that the program has proctored quizzes and exams, but it is on the student to procure proctors with whom they do not have prior relationships that could call their objectivity into question."
