A word about Instantcert

Well...I just canceled my membership to Instantcert because I have completed all of my testing. I still intend on hanging around the discussion forum in order to keep up with everyone. I did want to take this chance to say a few things about Instantcert.

I decided to look into CLEP/DSST at the beginning of the year. It was recommended to me from my advisor at Strayer, which was the college that I thought I was going to get my degree from...Since then I have seen the light and I will get my degree from Excelsior College in October. I checked the DSST Study Guide book out from the library and started working on Principles of Supervision. After going through the questions in the book, I knew there was no way that I would be able to pass these exams without some help. So, I searched the internet and found all of these expensive guides and CDs for individual CLEP and DSST exams. Some of the study guides were over $100/exam. I actually considered buying one of these and then I stumbled on to Instantcert. The main reason I joined was because of the free 1 month trial offer, I figured that I had nothing to lose. I joined on January 31st and I took my first exam on February 2nd. Since joining, I have taken a total of 17 exams in 4 1/2 months while working a full time job and serving as a music minister part-time.

Instantcert has THE most comprehensive study material and resources out there and at $20/month, it is a bargain. I spent a total of $80 on my Instantcert membership and used it for all 17 exams. Another point is that I used ONLY Instantcert and the practice exams for the respective tests. I never had to spend a dime on any other study resource. My disclaimer here: There are a couple of exams in there that I probably should have used some additional study sources, so results may vary, but for me Instantcert worked perfectly. The flashcard system of studying is excellent for retention of knowledge even for technical subjects like Statistics and Accounting. As I figured out my cost per exam for study materials, I come out with 17 exams divided by a total of $80 for 5 months of Instantcert. That is $4.71/exam....unbelievable, especially since I was considering paying upward of $100/exam for other study material available on-line.

I hope my story serves as motivation for anyone on the fence about whether to A) use CLEP/DSST to get college credit and B) use Instantcert to get it done. Good luck to all in your future testing and I would love to help anyone that has any questions about the specific exams that I have taken.

Well, your post has possibly swayed me in the direction of attempting to take the Principles of Stats DSST. I'm so on the fence about it. You're living proof it can be done!

Please do stick around, you've given great feedback on the exams you've taken and good advice in general. I'm so impressed with your track record - what you've accomplished, in the given time frame, is very motivating. I might be able to give you a run for your money if you'd take my kids off my hands for a few months hilarious

Congrats Ben it is a great feeling when you get your last exam finished isn't it. I am finished but as you can see I still find myself logging in and reading the forums.
