Does most of these not also apply to all learning in general?

True you could apply lots of those concepts to all learning.  Using AI accelerates the time it takes to do those things.

Can AI improve learning more than traditional methods?

I believe it can, especially given that it can be a personalized coach and it can help simplify an answer to your liking and from there, you can compound more knowledge. I am a fan of the Feynman Technique in learning, where you learn about a topic and then you explain the topic in your own words, identify your knowledge gap(s) and circle back. AI can be a great tool for helping you understand complex information, before, it was Wikipedia.

Citation needed, to put it mildly. It seems more likely that students using LLMs to generate papers and answer questions on tests is subverting all the things below the waterline, not improving them.

I'm not saying that LLMs can't be used positively by institutions and by students, but I question how much of what's happening now is at all positive.

I will say, Wikipedia does a good job to make sure the information is right. AI does not have those safeguards.

Right now, AI hallucinates as much as 30% of responses. I have yet to have interacted with anything or anyone who hallucinates that much, including some chemistry faculty were known to develop their own drugs back in the day (and might still be).
