ASNSM Biology
#1
I think I have read somewhere that the Biology I/Lab could not be used as an elective but was required to fall in to the General Education Section (D. Understanding the Physical and Natural World) for the ASNSM Biology degree at TESU. For anyone who has completed or is currently working on this degree as well, can you confirm if this understanding is correct please?

Also, can computer sciences typically be used for this degree to meet the General Education requirements for the D. Understanding the Physical and Natural World section, or would an additional science course(s) need to be planned?

TIA!

Well that's a relief! He has plenty of those. ty davewill  Smile

So that just leaves whether or not TESU will allow BioI/Lab to fit in as a Biology elective in the AOS. I'm also trying to figure out if he needs to plan on an additional biology course under the elective category.  Confused

BioI/Lab does fall in the AOS for the TESU ASNSM Biology.  You must have Biology II w/lab - it is a requirement.  https://www.tesu.edu/heavin/asnsm/biology

You posted that your husband already had Bio I & II (4 credits each - which indicates that they included labs) under your original posting here https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...rpont-TESU

In addition to the Bio II w/lab he needs 12 other Bio credits - he has 4 with Bio I w/lab, leaving him in need of 8.  I very recently posted to someone else in detail on ways to get them here: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid266922

More good news! Thank you so much.  Smile

So just to be clear, I can dump CS courses in to the Gen Ed (Understanding the Physical and Natural World) slots and then Bio I/II w/ labs into the AOS? I read somewhere on the forums that TESU insisted the Bio I/lab go into Gen Ed, but it was a very old post and I couldn't find anything more recent. Since that makes the difference between 3 vs 4 addition Bio courses I wanted to be absolutely sure lol

I have this degree in my current TESU official evaluation, so I can personally confirm that Bio I w/lab goes into the AOS. - under the AOS Bio II w/lab is its own subcategory, and the rest of the credits fall under the AOS electives (this is where the Bio I w/lab falls).  All this recent talk of it though makes me reconsider grabbing my own missing class/credits - maybe I have time before Dec graduation Smile

Thank you so much Allivia! Knowing for sure that is how it shows up currently in the OSS sets my mind at ease.

Absolutely if you have the time, I say go for it! Sounds like you are just as close, if not even closer than my hubby is. He's looking at finishing three courses with SDC (Nutrition 101: Science of Nutrition, Biology 106: Pathophysiology, and Genetics 101: Intro to Genetics) for the AOS and crossing fingers he's got everything else he needs for the Gen Ed portion as well with the rest of his credits. As long as they are willing to allow him two graduation cycles with one residency waiver, its looking like Dec graduation is very likely for him as well   Smile
