About TESU international students language proficiency
#1
Hello, I’m a student from China and applied for TESU BACS. I submitted my TOEFL home score and the admission team could not receive my score which is weird. So I want to apply via the 9 credit hour-bearing course transcript, but the TESU website noted that the transcript should come from an accredited college/university, I have 80 credits from Sophia, will this waive the language requirement? Thanks.

Sophia is alternative credit so it would not count towards this requirement. The courses/credits could be from an university like Arizona State University's Universal Learner program or any other similar option:

Thanks, can I transfer my sophia credits into UoPeople or similar universities and then send my UoPeople transcript to TESU?

No, that's not possible. This board calls that credit washing or credit laundering. TESU will always count "alt-credit" from a source like Sophia as alt-credit; its alt-credit quality will not disappear by transferring it to another school's transcript.

Basically... No, sending Sophia.org credits to another institution, in hopes for it to transfer to a second institution, won't work. The reason is, it's noted on the transfer transcripts that it came from Sophia.org, the second institution such as TESU will also need to get the transfers from ACE or Credly (where you store your Sophia.org classes), they'll know where these credits come from.

This is very different than transferring community college credits, as the source is from an institution. Sophia.org and other ACE/NCCRS are course providers, not an institution, their classes are just recommended for college credit, the provider itself is not accredited by CHEA or USDOE. If you're looking at cheap credits that are RA, community college is the only way to go (or TESU TECEPs for exams).

Got it, is there any chance credit from UoPeople or Nexford can fulfill this requirement? If TECEP does count I will also consider that.

TECEP does count as RA and will fulfill that requirement. TECEP does not count as TESU residency credit except for US military students, which is pertinent to whether you'd pay for a residency waiver or instead take 15 semester hours in TESU courses.

TESU only very recently opened the door to directly transfer credit from NA schools like UoPeople and Nexford. So there is a chance credit from those schools could fulfill that requirement, but it's untested and you should inquire directly with TESU.
