Accreditation Question

If you already complete and associates degree from a nationally accredited university are you able to apply to any regionally accredited college like TESU for bachelors and would they accept all credits or do they have to do an evaluation if its transferable?

Note: I thought I was in a regionally accredited university because that's what they told me, just recently I found out otherwise. I am looking to attend TESU, they told me they don't accept nationally accredited credits but not sure if they mean their not transferable since I'm in the middle of my associates degree or if it's not transferable whether Im still in school or already completed the degree. Don't want to waist my time at this school.

What school is out? Any courses ACE accredited?

There are a few schools thru may accept a NA associates....AMU/APU being the first that springs to mind. You might also consider WGU, they used to accept NA and may still.

The big three are likely a no go, except that you might use what you've learned to pass CLEP, SL, and DSST to catch up to an RA degree.

It's not too late to stop and transfer, which is something I almost never say, but in this case - that's my suggestion.

If you wouldn't mind saying which college you're at so someone here can double check?

EDIT: I second Rebel's suggestion. Take the courses you've already done and do a quick refresh then go take the corresponding CLEP exams. It will cost you $80 per class to do this, but you're in the best position to do this now while it's fresh in your head.



I have one other idea. You could earn your bachelor's through the school you're at now. This isn't a total loss, because some fields don't care.... but you're only in your first 60 credits, it would just be so much better to start over.

It's Southwest University at El Paso, Texas. Yes that's an awesome suggestion I'll go ahead and take the corresponding CLEP's since I won't be able to do my bachelors in this school since I move right after I would be finishing my associates. I guess I'm better off that way Thanks!

There are other options in gaining credit that will go to the big 3, in addition to CLEP/DSST testing, by using Saylor/Straighterline, etc.

You may also consider going to competency based degrees at Northern Arizona Univ, Patten, Hodges and WGU to name a few.
Email those schools to inquire about transfer of credits, match what you're looking for and also provide the most transfer credits.

Is there a big difference between excelsior and TESU?

Note the link above references a fee to assess the NA credit, a pretty severe limit on how much credit will be transfered, and exclusions for certain degrees.

Excelsior is generally seen as the mist expensive of the big 3 by a pretty good margin.
