ALEKS/ACE question

Hello all,

Should I sign up with/make an account with ACE before I make an account with ALEKS?

I know I saw the answer to this on the forums before, I should have saved the answer. Am I remembering things incorrectly? Does the order of things even matter here? Maybe I read about an issue on the ALEKS side of things in terms of what type of account to make with them? I know there was an issue somewhere, I just can't find the original post.

No, it doesn't matter which account you create first. Create one after the other.
You would create the ACE Credit Registry account to store any ACE Recommended for credit courses.
Once you have any course that is completed, you request it to be added.
It will be in pending state, once approved, it will be moved to your approved section.

There's no fee for storing your ACE courses, it's there as a free service.
The only time you pay is when you want transcripts sent to an institution.
$20 for the first transcript, $15 for any subsequent transcript.
Hope this helps, just work the courses and add each one when they're complete.

bjcheung77 is correct- it doesn't have to be first, but just have it open and ready by the time you're ready to send your ALEKS class. You don't want any wasted lag time.

Thanks, what type of account do I open with ALEKS? It looks like they have a few options (higher-ed, home school) ect..ect..which one would self study degree-by-exam people like me sign up for? Can you remember the account type you selected? Thanks again.

:toetap: You made me look! :leaving: Anyways, it won't really matter... You should choose the Higher Ed option.
When you're in the Master account, the Market option should be: Higher Education| Math and you can then select the course.

I did not mean to create any extra effort or work on your part, I just figured it would be best to ask you since you already have experience with ALEKS. I can't find the post but I remember reading somewhere about someone selecting the wrong account type and they later had issues getting it to transfer or show up with ACE.

You just saved me and all future readers of this post a potential headache in terms of account creation with ALEKS, so thanks for that.

Make sure you choose courses that are ACE-approved (I think they have an ACE next to them).

With TESU, you can only get 12cr, although I think COSC may accept 15.

Unfortunately I ordered my first ACE transcript when they were still $40.00. $20.00 sounds pretty good!
