I took 1 and 2 with lab through Ocean County College as an online student. Both were hard but "open book" - if I had to take these butt in seat it would have been brutal. Assuming you take a decent class, there is an exceptionally LARGE amount of memorization and an understanding of cell biology/ chemistry regarding the body processes.

I have taken and passed 3 straighterline classes. I started Anatomy and Physiology with them and never finished it. I love biology and have completed several biology classes at study.com and probably will take Anatomy & Physiology with them. To be fair, I can not stand SL classes and love the video classes with many quizes that study.com has. If you learn better reading on your own and not through videos, you may do well with SL.

I took A&P I and II at Straighterline. I think Study.com offers A&P I as well. Anyways, both courses weren't bad, if you just focus and get your exams/midterm and finals done to your schedule, you'll be fine. If you are wanting to get into Bio or Life Sciences, it's better to actually take the labs as well, or if you're going for a pre-professional degree, then take them at the community college for hands-on labs.

I took A&I online with New Mexico Junior College in 2010. My experience was pretty much identical to cookderosa's. You do learn a lot of useful stuff.

You shouldn't be studying for the NCLEX. You haven't started nursing school.
As for TEAs, you'll want to find out if yours has the science section required. If it does, it is VERY important to learn the material. I double checked, and it looks like 68% of the TEAs science section is A&P. Speaking only for myself, I found A&P to be very challenging. When I took the series, I had already taken Intro to Biology without lab, General Biology 1 with lab, and Intro to Chemistry with Lab. If you're new to lab sciences, allow yourself double whatever study time you think you'll need. It would also be good just to pick up a second hand used A&P college textbook to see what you're getting into before you start. For *me* I didn't need to take the TEAs for nursing admission, I took the HESI (no A&P) but I know 3 people in real life who didn't get into nursing school or failed out due to A&P. I'm not trying to scare you , I just want to elevate it to a level of importance- it's a big deal and will take a big space in your brain. (passing the class might not be bad, I passed both mine with "A" but that was with all open book quizzes and exams - I didn't have to retain it all for another exam and I when I took my graduate nutrition courses, there was still a lot I realized I didn't remember).

People's experiences are going to vary widely based on whether they took an online course and where they took it. A Straightetline course is not going to be like your typical college course. An online course is going to have differences from a ground course.
