Hello, can anyone provide me with information on this course? Anyone taken this? The sample syllabus states there are at least 6 written assignments and two tests. Can anyone provide me with feedback:
* The overall level of difficult of this class.
* What's expected of the written assignments? How long are they and so on.
* How are are the tests?
I'm really busy the next 6 months but would like to get this class out of the way.

I took the class from March-June of this year. I got an A and thought the class was not too time consuming. There were six written assignments which were just exercises from the text book. I got 100% on all of them. There were six discussion forums. I got 100% on all of them. The midterm is a closed-book, locally proctored exam. I only got an 82% but did not get to study enough. The final is a closed-book, online proctored exam. I got a 91% with average amount of study. Make sure you know the "Review of Essential Terms and Concepts" at the end of each chapter! See below!
From the syllabus:
The midterm is a closed-book, locally proctored exam. It is two hours long and covers material in Modules 1 through 3. It consists of both objective (true/false, classification, multiple choice) and short answer/essay questions. The essay questions focus on major course concepts while the objective questions are more closely tied to topics covered in the "Review of Essential Terms and Concepts" sections at the end of each chapter.
The final is a closed-book, online proctored exam. It is two hours long and covers all reading and assignments from Modules 4â6 of the course. It consists of both objective (true/false, classification, multiple choice) and short answer/essay questions. The essay questions focus on major course concepts while the objective questions are more closely tied to topics covered in the "Review of Essential Terms and Concepts" sections at the end of each chapter.

My opinions on this course are slight different than the previous poster.
First, the level of this course is medium unless you understand the basics of computers.
Second, the assignments were not that time consuming, but the review questions were very time consuming.
Third, the tests were fairly easy if you completed your assignments and the review questions on time and prepared for the tests.

I took this course last year and it was very interesting. If you are already a computer programmer or computer technician, the information will not be too hard to understand and learn.
I recommend buying the book before taking the course and reading some of the chapters. This will give you an idea of what you are in store for.
Lots of people dropped the class when I took it. I think we started with 9 and finished with 3 or 4. Some of these peoples' discussion board postings were subpar for a computer science student.
