Excelsior has posted on its web site two new degrees beginning in March. Can anyone give me any information on these two degrees?
I looked in the catalogs and didn't find anything.
They look promising for getting your degree in place of a liberal arts degree but I couldn't find any info on the degree requirements.

I don't know anything about this new degree but it might be similar to the BS of Professional Studies program at Austin Peay State University.
The accelerated BSPS program there would accept your AA, AS, or AAS 100%. You then take two five week classes at a time for about fifteen months and then your done.
I am very interested in the details of this new program at Excelsior.
BA/Liberal Studies, TESC 2011
AAS/Applied Electronic Studies, TESC 2010

I am scheduled for my BSLS degree to confer 2/19/10 but this new degree has me wondering if I should delay until I can get more details. I have sent a message to the LA advisor to see if the courses/tests, etc that I have taken would fit the requirements of the new degree.
Of course if I do defer my degree that will mess up my starting with AJU March 1st, ughhh... to much to consider.

from the web site they have a lot of elective credit, i think 40 units. this would be awsome for those just needing a degree.

Link to announcement?
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.
Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

And oops! it says 45 elective credits
"Up to 45 elective credits may apply toward degree requirements
30 credits in the Arts and Sciences required
Articulates with Excelsior College AAS programs in technical studies and administrative/management studies
Allows students to maximize credit for approved military and corporate training"

Hmm... Looks like a 4 year version of an AOS/AAS degree... I'm not sure how useful it would be except in a few fields.

For a lot of generic government jobs, city, county state and the military, this works well because they only want you to have a degree, any degree.

OK I found out from the Business School advisors that you can no longer defer your degree.
Additionally, I was told the advisors are getting training on this new BPS program next week and that some things are still being ironed out.
One thing is was told by two different advisors is that if one plans to go on for a masters degree, to check with the school you intend to get it at, because they may not accept this as fulfilling all the requirements of a Bachelors degree when used towards getting a Masters ( or something like that wording ).
