All I have is drivers license and I'm not a student there so I don't have a student id card. I guess I will go get a passport. Kinda annoyed as I have been studying and was planning on taking 3 exams this week.
That's interesting since my friend's 8th grader didn't have ANY ID..... My son showed his DL and that was it, it's been a while but I honestly don't think I even showed my DL. Very annoying and confusing.

Just adding my two cents... I've taken 6 CLEP exams with my driver's license and my original signed Social Security Card as ID. I had to get my mother to hunt through her files to find it, as the last time I saw my SS card I was about 8 years old! I called the college testing center (I am not a registered student there) prior to taking my first CLEP, discussed my lack of a second photo ID, and was told the signed SS Card was OK. I had no problems at the testing center.
Call your testing center for verification before your test date.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like fraud is taking place and they had to crack down. Unfortunately that is a sign of the times. I use my Government ID and a DL. I also have a passport, and intl drivers license and a couple more ID's that would probably suffice.
I would encourage everyone to get a passport anyway, most Americans dont, and they should. We are a global minority in that regard. Heck, you cant even go to Mexico or Canada now without one.
That being said our country is so awesome you dont have to leave it, lol.

I was asked for two forms of ID so I used my driver's license & I had my work ID badge on me which also had my picture on it. It helped I was all decked out in stuff from work that had their name plastered all over it. Since that first time I haven't been asked for another ID, I've taken so many exams there I'm on a first name basis with the staff. One week I didn't make it there on my regular day and they were all "we were worried about you!" hilarious

Well, I never had to show any form of photo ID... It's a good thing, because when I started taking CLEPs I was only 15 and had no photo ID. I only had to have my SSN.

Just checked with my testing center & they said 1 photo ID and 1 non-photo (SS card) would work. So Iâm not sure if these changes were meant for everyone?

Any test center who is saying a social security card is not acceptable is making their own rule regarding the use of this identification. As stated, the CLEP policy (which is to be observed by all of their authorized test centers) is to allow for any secondary ID that contains a photo or signature of the candidate.
CLEP also has a policy in place for those young testers who do not have a driver's license/state ID card or a passport -- a Student ID Form (valid for one year), printed out from the CLEP website with a recognizable photo which has either a school or notary seal overlapping the photo. This form is brought each time for testing and the student signs in front of the proctor.
I am amazed to read about the number of test centers who are not even observing the primary ID much less requiring a second ID. They are taking their chances that CLEP will not be sending "shoppers" around for an audit of the test center...

This is kind of an issue that ticks me off. Now when everyone needs two ID's for identification, suddenly, now one must do what? Go get a passport right? Well, the minute they mention that the USA needs a national ID card system, all hell breaks loose and everyone thinks big brother is going to tear you a new butthole. They think of every excuse not to have a "Needless" ID card issued to you. When you think about it, almost every country I've been to has some form of national identification aside a driver's license.
Now, the other side of the issue is the VETERANS ADMINISTRATION. They don't issue ID cards to veterans but they issue it to them if they are somehow involved in the VA HEALTHCARE SYSTEM. There are current bills in the house to have veterans ID cards issued, on a national basis. The state of Virginia and Delaware issue veterans ID cards aside their driver's licenses. My state in Texas for example, puts in a veterans designator on your driver's license. Kind of defeats the purpose of having an extra ID card doesn't it? And you should see the opposition to this from retirees, especially that have a real beef about veterans being issued identification cards to prove veteranship. All we have is a piece of paper called a dd-214 to prove that and who wants to carry around a document? It doesn't even have a photo of you in it so its worthless as a form of picture ID. So folks, we do it to ourselves. We seem to talk ourselves out of good things in this country because people seem to have a warped way of thinking that creates more of a hinderance than a helping regarding this issue. And it comes to no surprise. Yes, I suppose another form of ID aside your DL would be a passport. Kind of a waste of money if you don't even travel. Too bad.
