I didn't use ebooks for my SL courses because they were a lot more expensive than used hardback/paperback books. The only reasons why I took the SL courses I took were because the DSST for Public Speaking wasn't offered by a nearby testing center, the DSST for Public Speaking is known for being a pain, and the Uexcel for Microbiology is expensive. But, when it came to A&P, I opted for the Uexcel because there were way too many quizzes for the SL and Study.com courses. I normally don't spend a lot of time studying for CBEs, so they're quicker for me than SL courses. I might take PF's programming course only because I don't want to learn Java for the Uexcel or CSU Global CBE. The SL course for C++ is not in consideration.

One reason people are shying away from DSSTs is because some have been updated and pass rates are lower than before.
Another observation is that IMO accounting courses (in particular) are (perhaps) better taken as courses rather than by exam.
It's great that COSC is now accepting more DSSTs as upper level!

A majority of the anecdotal examples have been along the lines of CTRL+F. Before you misread my comment, let me again state (and I have historically taken this position also) that CLEP by no means implies gained knowledge. People have taken and passed CLEPs with virtually no understanding of the material. So no, CLEP doesn't make you an A student.
I have no problem agreeing to this. Your question was about why choose one over the other and statements about which was easier -- not about which results in better retention of the material or what makes you an "A student".

Who are you asking? I answered these issues myself, but those answers can only apply to me.

I don't know much about COSC's degrees, but one thing I do know is that you can also take ALEKS Beginning Algebra for credit.
Regarding the 3 stats courses there, I know that TESU counts them as all the same, but again, I don't know COSC.
One thing I do know about most schools (COSC included): you do not have to take a lower level course once you take one that is higher. So if you take and pass Intermediate Algebra and College Algebra, the would not be considered "invalid" because you didn't take Beginning Algebra. If you take and Pass Spanish 3, it would still be valid even if you didn't take Spanish I & II. I think the only thing you want to do is not leave anything on the table. Meaning that if you can get credit for Beginning Algebra, then you should take it/test out of it too.

If you go for the business degree at COSC, I was told that the latest (a recent change) is that they won't take both intro and business stats from ALEKS and that intro will not satisfy the business stats requirement. So if you want credit for both, the best thing to do is to take business stats through Straighterline.
Your intermediate and college algebra will be valid without beginning algebra.

My suggestions are for if you choose the business major at COSC. I looked over this quickly, so forgive me if I missed something.
If you are trying to be efficient, and you take the upper level Civil War, Vietnam War, and Soviet Union tests, there is really no reason to take US History 1, 2 and Western Civ 1, 2. I don't think you need the three Biology courses. You need two science courses plus one lab.
Business Ethics DSST is good because it gives upper level credit and satisfies the Ethics general ed. requirement.
I don't see anything listed for Business Law, Management Information Systems (DSST or CLEP), or Financial Management (Principles of Finance DSST or Penn Foster).
Good luck. You have a great start!

I have a couple questions:
-What is CSU and it is possible to take these types of tests at a testing center not located in the USA?
-I read earlier on in this post that Aleks business stats is not accepted anymore, do you know if this is confirmed? And if so what other test out business stat option do I have?
Thank you!
