Definitely check with the proctor service but it might not hurt to go ahead and get the state issue ID at some point. You never know when you might run into that proctor who doesn't know the rules and makes you sit around forever while they check. It's also good to have if you want to cash a check, get a job etc. It's usually less than $20 and some states do give you the card the day you apply. That is unless you are pretty close to getting your temps, in which case it's just a waste of money because you'll need to pay for an ID at that time and it most likely will be a photo ID.

I'm actually looking into getting an ID card for my 13yo son, because he's going to be traveling, and the new REAL ID card helps with that. But I'm planning on it taking weeks/months to come, so not a short-term solution to the testing problem.
