Thank you BJ. I just want to hear it from the horse's mouth. I eagerly await hearing back from TESU about this

We still haven't seen any update from TESU on whether this new 2.0 GPA requirement applies to transfer students with no graded credits or not. My expectation (and hope) is that it will be waived, so this should only apply to people who have an actual GPA, and a lot of alt ed transfer students won't have a GPA at all until after they complete their capstone.
Working on: Debating whether I want to pursue a doctoral program or maybe another master's degree in 2022-23

I don't think it's new.  I thought there was always a 2.0 requirement to enroll, so I'm not sure anything has changed.

The thinking is that getting a waiver for a 2.0 GPA to enroll when you don't have a GPA might be easier/different from getting a waiver for the 2.0 GPA requirement for taking the Capstone.

I think they'll almost certainly waive it for those without a GPA for two reasons:

1. It's more consistent with the rest of their policies.
2. Not doing so could prevent some students from becoming "full-time" at TESU, by forcing them to take any "other" class they need BEFORE the capstone rather than concurrently. Forcing students who would otherwise become full-time to become part-time seems like a bad decision for a university to make.

If you cannot get TES-100 1 SH waved then you should have a TESU GPA. If not I expect them to have a separate waver for this situation. If people here are concerned then they should be making an advisor appointment and/or asking this question to several advisors via email.

This course is P/F, not graded, so no GPA.

I think TESU is setting a minimum number of courses that is required so that it can keep making profit, right now if they have 2 mandatory courses and a residency waiver its getting close to 5000 min for a degree with application and graduation fee.

For that they are trying to get people to put the extra to do the comprehensive tuition plan.

Plus for some majors you can only get courses from them, in that case the comprehensive plan is most viable and they are trying to push people to that.

They're setting the minimum with the change to the cornerstone, not the change to the capstone in my opinion. If the point of this capstone change was to force you to do two classes, they would've done it in such a way that allows you to do them both concurrently.

I don't think it's new.  I thought there was always a 2.0 requirement to enroll, so I'm not sure anything has changed.

dfrecore is correct.  The 2.0 is not new at all.  You always had to have a 2.0 or better in order to register for the Capstone.  And this shows up in your Academic Evaluation under Overall Degree GPA Needed (this shows 2.0 for everyone) and then what matters is Overall Degree GPA Requirement Met = Y or N.  You'd read "Y" unless you transferred in only D grades from B&M and then Alt Credits - Alt Credits like ACE by default earn you a 2.0 - because, as dfrecore mentioned in an earlier post, it is 'assumed' you have a 70 (aka 2.0) or better to earn credit.  Your 2.0 Alt Credits cannot alone make up for your "all Ds" one and only B&M transcript. If all you transfer in is Alt Credits then you get a 2.0 Overall GPA - nothing more.

The only thing this would impact is having to to wait for the initial evaluation to be complete (assuming you wait until you have 100+ credits when you apply).  You could not apply on a Monday, get a student ID Tuesday, Start sending all (100+) credit transcripts on the Wednesday, and then Register for your Capstone on Thursday (although you could register for the Cornerstone).  You would have to wait the 2/3 weeks for your evaluation to be complete prior to registering for your Capstone, as you won't have a "Y" to the Overall Degree GPA Requirement Met until an evaluation is completed. IMO it is another reason not to wait to apply, and just send provider  transcripts as you earn them (or monthly) - especially for those who offer then for free like SL and Study.com. The benefits of waiting to apply and get evaluated do not exist with TESU anymore, waiting to apply can actually hurt you in the long run; just look at the UL to LL with SL last year, and the Shmoop banishment.  If anyone has a good reason not to apply as early as possible I'd like to hear it - because I honestly can't think of one (if you've made up your mind that TESU is for you).
