Charter Oak ends FEMA IS credits 6\1\2020

Whenever one of the Big 3 makes a horrible move like an "approved provider directory" different from ACE/NCCRS, or requiring a cornerstone, etc, the other two are quick to adopt these dumb ideas.

i wish it worked the other way, where one of them actually take a turn making things more beneficial for non-traditional folks and the others follow suit.

No limit, you just have to pay $80 or $88 for each if you have more. It's a waste of cash flow for free credits. Leave the 30 there are in the Frederick Community College transcript, I don't think anywhere else will accept them once COSC stops taking them.

Definitely.  $80/cr is more than twice what most of our courses cost here, and that's not even counting the free ones (Sophia and ALEKS right now, CLEP through Modern States once the quarantine is over).

I already transferred them over 10 years ago.

TESU stopped, but Excelsior was if it's on an FCC Transcript.

We could apply using this process too, though I don't know if we will.

That sounded rather unexpected to me, so I asked them. (I don't work there, but I'm VP of COSC's Alumni Association Board, and have been on the Board since 2008, so over time I've come to know a lot of the people who work there.)

The response: 'The short answer is “no”, that is not the case. We award credit based on ACE and NCCRS credit recommendations, as well as our own. If there is an ACE or NCCRS credit recommendation, we use that and do not do our own evaluation.'

Well, I'm sorry if my information was incorrect, but I heard that from a pretty good authority. Anyway, I was told the effective date would be July 1, so we'll see. We also don't know what impact, if any, the COVID-19 outbreak has had/will have on this.

It looks like my source was correct.

From COSC's website:

Effective July 1, 2020, all courses, programs, or exams offered by alternative educational providers (non-regionally accredited entities) recommended for credit by NCCRS or ACE will not be accepted in transfer unless an agreement with the provider and Charter Oak exists. Students will be limited to a total of 90 degree-applicable credits from non-regionally accredited course providers, even if an agreement is in place.
