College Mathematics Exam--San Gabriel Valley, Ca.
#1
Hello all,
I am returning this site in preparation to retake the College Mathematics exam, and am in need of specific advice:
1) Has anyone taken the exam in the San Gabriel Valley, California area that can direct me to a version of the exam that is all multiple choice?
The version I took six months ago had several, five or more, fill in the blank type questions, and as far as I can figure this is what cost me a passing score. This material was not covered in Instantcert or The Princeton Review, so I had not seen it before. I scored a 46, and as near as I can tell I may only have needed two more correct answers in order to pass. Had these been multiple choice I could have at least guessed and had a 1/4 (25%) chance of answering correctly. F.Y.I. the test was taken at Rio Hondo C.C. in Whittier, Ca.
2) I will be using Instantcert and The princeton Review once again, along with other elementary algebra resources I have. Does that seem like sufficient prep.? I am looking to retake the exam by 11-28,and will be studying 2-3 hours daily. I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

Thank you.

I am not aware of a way to choose which version of an exam you will get. I assume all will have a section of fill-in the blank questions.

Have you looked at REA study materials? There are also Peterson's practice tests online. Plus, try Peterson's CLEP Success. Here is the link: http://www.petersons.com/pdf/free/CLEPSuccess.pdf

Best wishes on your exam!

When I took the College Mathmatics test a few months ago, I went through the IC questions and I also had just recently gone through the Saxon Advanced Mathmatics book - it was really helpful. I don't have any prior knowledge in the California testing area, so I'm sorry I couldn't be of any more help. Good luck on taking the test!!

I took the college math Clep a couple of months ago in Santa Clarita, CA. As you said it had about 5 fill in questions, I believe all versions of the exam have these types of questions. I used the REA book alone and passed. As long as you understand the concepts you will get these questions. Good luck!
