If so are they a cheaper alternative?

The cheapest/easiest place to get UL RA credit is APUS:
https://catalog.apus.edu/undergraduate/a...bachelors/
Study.com – Get 10% Off: https://altcredit.click/study10

Degrees: BA Comp Sci; BS Business Admin (CIS); AS Nat Sci & Math — TESU (4.0 GPA)
Certs: Google (IT Support, Digital Marketing, Proj Mgmt); W3Schools PHP

Lots of places to earn them cheaper than APUS:
UExcel exams (generally $110/exam)
TECEP exams ($250/exam for UL)
U of Arkansas Self-Paced Online ($165/cr=$495/course)
U of Idaho Independent Study ($190/cr=$570/course)
CSU Pueblo Independent Studies ($205/cr=$615/course)
BYU Independent Study ($212/cr=$636/course)
Oklahoma State University Individual Study ($689/course)
West Texas A&M Self-Paced ($699/course)
University of Northern Iowa Guided Independent Study  ($253/cr + $48/course=$807/course)

Also, if you enroll at Excelsior, and choose the Course Option instead of the Multi-Source Option, the cost for those last 2 courses is only $550 total - which works out to be $92/cr (yes, because of fees and tuition discounts, taking 7cr at EC is $5300 while taking 13cr at EC is $5850).

Totally depends. All courses offered at community colleges are lower level courses.

There are some CC's that offer UL degrees, so they do offer UL courses.  https://www.miracosta.edu/academics/degr...index.html

That's not the norm with community colleges though. This one offers a few bachelor's degrees. They're UL courses are for those degrees. And those courses may not transfer as UL to other schools.

Definitely not the cheapest place to get UL RA credit. Many state schools cost far less for in state students. FHSU is only $213 per credit out of state and that is RA credit and a university.

I didn't say it was the norm, nor did we discuss the transferability of the credit.  I was objecting to the notion that "All courses offered at community colleges are lower level courses" which is just not true.

Some in-state schools may cost less than others, but many only have semester-based 16 week courses that start in the spring or fall; they may also not be set up for online.

I'd pay more for a self-paced course (although most are less than FHSU), and I'd also pay more for an 8-week term with rolling start dates.

It was starting to get long, and I tend to get lost when there's wording in the middle of stuff.  So just to try to show where I was in the response.
