Computer Concepts and Applications TECEP
#11
tsimmns Wrote:Hmm, this helped but since haven't worked at a large IT firm it still has me worried since in scheduled for it this term. Ok now basic computer stuff, and maybe some advanced stuff. No certifications or such but hopefully this test isn't that complicated as I'm hoping it's a pass on the first try. Knowing me I'll probably rent the book and give it a skin before procrastinating to take the test. Congratulations on the pass by the way.

You should scroll further down (up). I gave my info on Post #5 of this thread, I have no IT experience and haven't worked in 15 years, and I passed with a 75% without any studying at all. I think if you're fairly computer literate, you should be able to pass.

If you're advanced computer literate, but don't work with computers at work everyday, you're going to miss more questions. I think you can still pass. It might be closer to 70% than you'd like. However, there are a lot of easy questions. I agree this isn't worth studying for because you may study an extra 2 hours and get just one extra question right by studying the wrong things. This subject is so broad. I'd use the time to study something else that will yield a better return.

For anyone who's taken the Intro to Computing DSST, is this exam similar? Would I get by with studying the same material that I used to study for the DSST?

I didn't study for either, and passed both. Intro to Computers with 437, Computer Concepts 75%. I think they were both fairly broad, and therefore difficult to study for. Lots of overlap, but not 100%. If you study for one, I think it will give you a boost on the other for sure.
